Ski Destinations

This was an exploratory trip we took to try Big Sky, MT to determine whether or not a Montana ski area was a better value than a Colorado ski area. The differences in altitude would also make it easier to avoid any possible "altitude sickness".

We had been to all of the other Summit County Colorado Ski Resorts except Copper Mountain, and we had read a lot of good things about it. So this trip was planned to go find out if those reports we had een reading were accurate.

This was an "all family" trip to Keystone, CO and we invited Celeste's nephew Steven to come along. This was a year after Jeremy had made the switch to snowboard, and Steven had been snowboarding for a while in New England - so our assumption was that we could all have a great time.

We decided to make our annual skip trip trek to the Grand Tetons area of Wyoming, mostly because the snow in Colorado had been increasingly sparse the past several years. Besides which, we had not been in this area previously - so a side-trip to Yellowstone National Park was also in our plans.

We started traveling to Summit County when we lived in Dallas in the early 1990s. In fact, our daughter, who is now thirty one, had her first birthday at Keystone. We’ve skied at other places over the years including Big Sky and Whitefish, Montana, Grand Targhee, Idaho, Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Terry has skied the Tahoe area and California and various European Ski Resorts. However, Summit County Colorado keeps pulling at our heart strings.
